US Secretary of State John Kerry has said that US warship, the USS Donald Cook, would have been within its rights to shoot down the Russian warplanes which flew within metres of the destroyer in the Baltic.
The commander of the US warship buzzed by two Russian attack jets in the Baltic Sea has said that the US Navy will not cede space to Russian forces in the Baltic. He was speaking in Klaipėda where the USS Donald Cook has docked today.
Several Russian Su-24 attack aircraft conducted a “simulated attack profile” against the USS Donald Cook warship in the Baltic Sea, with one of the jets on Tuesday flying within nine metres of the destroyer.
