Lithuania submits The Summer of Sangaile for foreign language Oscar nomination

The Lithuanian Oscar Committee has decided that Alantė Kavaitė’s film The Summer of Sangaile (Sangailės vasara) will be Lithuania’s official candidate for the Oscar-nominations as Best Foreign-Language Feature.

Eurimages, the Council of Europe's film support fund, extended a grant of EUR 50,000 to the film Deadweight directed by Ignas Miškinis. The film is produced by Tremora (Lithuania) and coproduced by Film Angels Productions (Latvia), reports the Lithuanian Film Centre.
Lithuanian filmmaker Alantė Kavaitė has won World Cinema Dramatic Directing Award at Sundance Film Festival for her film The Summer of Sangailė. The film had its world première at Sundance and was screened as the day one film, the Lithuanian Film Centre reports.
The Summer of Sangaile, a film by Lithuanian director Alantė Kavaitė, will be screened in the main programme of Berlinale Panorama. The film will have its European première in Berlin while its world première is scheduled in a couple of days in Sundance.
The European Film Promotion (EFP) has announced that Lithuanian actress Aistė Diržiūtė, 23, has been shortlisted among the ten talented newcomer actors selected for the European Shooting Stars 2015, the Lithuanian Film Centre said.
Lithuanian film has been selected to take part in next year's Sundance Film Festival. The Summer of Sangaile, directed by Lithuanian filmmaker Alantė Kavaitė, will be screened in World Cinema Dramatic Competition of one of the world's key cinema events showcasing independent US and international production.
