"Lithuania can and must provide opportunities for its children scattered around the world to be the same citizens of our country like all of us," Nauseda said in his first State of the Nation Address to the parliament on Thursday. "The introduction of electronic voting for Lithuanian living abroad could be the first step here."

The president did not say in which election online voting could be introduced.

Online voting has been debated for years in Lithuania but has not approved until now due to cyber security concerns.
