"Reagents are both planned and procured. I cannot say how much we have in stock, I would need to check the numbers, but we have plenty of them," the minister told journalists in Lithuania's second-largest city of Kaunas, on Thursday.
"We are still using the ones we bought earlier. As far as I know, their expiry date is around late September, at least some of them. Procurements are taking place regularly. That regular process is ongoing," the minister said.
Veryga also added that following the decision to bring back the requirement to wear face masks as of Saturday, other indicators would be looked at to decide on whether to boost testing or introduce certain regimes at medical establishments.
There are no plans to close borders yet, Veryga said. "I do hope that Europe, as a community, will have also a more common strategy and countries won’t do that individually. If we need to, we will also make swifter decisions," he said.
Moreover, the minister says a growing number of new coronavirus cases is causing concern but there are no plans to postpone the upcoming general election in Lithuania.
"We hope we won't need to do that. Planning an election is a complicated process. Plus, we are aware of measures we can take for people to be able to come in the safest possible way," Veryga said.
Lithuania is bringing back the requirement to face masks in closed public spaces, including shopping centers and public transport, as of Saturday.
Face masks were mandatory for some time during the quarantine that was imposed in Lithuania in March to slow the spread of the coronavirus.
At the moment, people are only recommended to wear masks.
