On Saturday, the Lithuanian military announced that it would be preparing alternative dietary menus without meat, fish and dairy products. This decision was made after a survey of more than 1,300 conscripts, 29 of whom expressed an interest in alternative diets.

“The task given to the logistical management specialists of the Lithuanian military is very important – they must change animal-sourced products with plant-sourced products,” said a Ministry of National Defence press release.

Three new menus are being prepared for the Ministry of Health to approve for cafeteria and outdoor use, and experimental tests of certain dishes are also being conducted.
