The Labor Party's council is nominating him for the capital's mayor. "I will definitely run for Vilnius mayor. I hope for success," he told BNS Lithuania.

Uspaskich founded the Labor Party in 2003. It failed to cross the 5 percent threshold to get into parliament in 2016.
