"Ukraine and Georgia should be granted visa-free travel in the nearest future," the Lithuanian governmental press service cited the prime minister as saying.

Butkevičius and Hamacek discussed Eastern Partnership policies, stressing that Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova should be provided full political and financial assistance on the path to the EU.

On Tuesday, Butkevičius also met with Czech Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka and discussed the upcoming NATO summit in Warsaw. The two heads of governments discussed the need to improve the measures of deterrence and defence, according to the statement.

Lithuania's Butkevičius also thanked for the Czech participation in the NATO air policing mission, military training and exercises. In his words, Lithuania knows and appreciates the Czech contribution to Lithuania's defence.

"It is a reflection of true solidarity and readiness to overcome regional threats together," he stressed.
