Lithuania's Defence Minister Juozas Olekas will see his German counterpart on Wednesday morning and will have a joint news conference afterwards, the Ministry of National Defence told BNS.

Germany intends to send more than 500 troops to Lithuania for training this year. Vilnius is also holding talks with Berlin on acquisition of artillery systems. Lithuania would want to buy armoured howitzers PzH 2000.

The German diplomacy chief, Steinmeier, is scheduled to arrive in Lithuania on Thursday. He originally planned to come to Lithuania on April 2, but his visit was then cancelled due to prolonged negotiations on Iran's nuclear program.

During the tour, the German ministers should also visit the other two Baltic states of Latvia and Estonia.
