Local quarantine restrictions will be in place from midnight on October 26 to midnight on November 9.

"In light of the unfavorable epidemiological coronavirus situation, we propose to introduce quarantine in Elektrenai and the districts of Joniskis, Jurbarkas, Kelme, Klaipeda, Kretinga, Marijampole, Pasvalys, Plunge, Skuodas, Siauliai and Svencionys," Health Minister Aurelijus Veryga told the Cabinet.

The measures include limiting the number of passengers allowed on public transport, imposing a ban on crowding at a public place and requiring that people keep at least a two-meter distance from others.

Facemasks will be mandatory for everyone aged over six in all public indoor spaces, except while eating in cafes, etc.

State and municipal institutions and businesses are instructed to work fully or party remotely, and limit flows of customers by ensuring a space of at least 10 square meters per client or serving only one client at a time.

Religious communities are asked to avoid mass gatherings.
