On June 30, the European Defence Agency (EDA) signed a five-year contract with the Swedish manufacturer on behalf of the Baltic states. Munitions will also be provided for the Czech Republic and Poland.

Under the contract, ammunition for the Carl-Gustav recoilless rifles/launchers will be procured without additional contests and acquisition procedures for a fixed price for 5 years. If agreed, the contract may be extended for two more years.

The agreement authorising EDA to procure ammunition on behalf of the Baltic States was endorsed in Luxembourg on 23 April 2013 by EDA Chief Executive and delegates of the Baltic Ministries of Defence. Later the project was joined by the Czech Republic and Poland.

The Carl-Gustav is the main weapon of such type used by the Lithuanian Armed Forces, it is also used in the armed forces of the Czech Republic, the USA, Poland, Sweden, and other countries.

Last time Carl-Gustav ammunition was bought by the three Baltic States in 2007.
