A structural reform plan for the State Security Department will be presented to the members of the parliamentary National Security and Defence Committee on Wednesday.

MP Artūras Paulauskas, chair of the committee, says reform will involve a cut in division numbers within the State Security Department as well as changes in district chapters.

He adds that the reform will change the quality of the agency's performance.

The State Security Department is in charge of protecting Lithuania's sovereignty and constitutional order. In monitors and investigates activities that might pose threat to national security, territorial integrity and national interests.
