Antanas Bubnelis said Nauseda and Ingrida Simonyte agreed to look for other candidates for certain positions, but the prime minister-designate said this will be decided after the president has met with all the aspirants.

"The president expressed his doubts about several candidates for ministers and it was agreed that other persons would be sought for the positions," Bubnelis said after Nauseda's meeting with Simonyte.

"The president made remarks about the competencies these candidates must have to lead the areas overseen by the relevant ministries," he said.

The spokesman added that consultations will continue this week.

However, Simonyte said, "We did not make any agreements today to seek other candidates. The president just made his comments on both the candidates he has met and those he has not yet met".

The prime minister-designate added that she and the ruling coalition will make decisions on replacing some candidates after the president has met with all of them.
