Members of the presidium of the Lithuanian Social Democratic Party (LSDP) plan to meet in Vilnius on Thursday to discuss the situation in the ruling coalition.

"We are starting discussions on the fate of the coalition agreement," Gintautas Paluckas, the LSDP chairman, told BNS on the eve of the meeting.

Paluckas said that the presidium would discuss the political situation in the country and the situation in the ruling coalition.

"The presidium turns to the council and forwards the issue of the coalition agreement for consideration. The council is free to choose whether to revise (the agreement), terminate it or leave it as it is," he said.

The LSDP presidium is made up of around 50 leading members of the party and the council has five times as many members.
