Lithuanian Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis will lead the Farmers and Greens Union's candidate list in October's parliamentary election, the ruling party confirmed.

"Saulius Skvernelis is at number one, Ramunas Karbauskis is at number two and (Health Minister) Aurelijus Veryga is at number three," Karbauskis, the LFGU leader, said after the LFGU council ranked the party's candidates.

"The motives are awareness and public support", he said, commenting on the council's decision.

The party plans to announce the remaining list of its candidates for the October 11 election on Monday.
