Seven Ukrainian soldiers will arrive in Lithuania soon to undergo medical treatment, the Baltic country's Minister of National Defence Juozas Olekas said on Wednesday.

"We are now planning to fly to bring those injured troops to Lithuania over the upcoming days. There will be seven of them. Some of them will go to our rehabilitation center and the remaining will be taken to civilian hospitals," Olekas told journalists at the Lithuanian Air Force's Air Base in the northern city of Šiauliai.

The Lithuanian government has already spent around 1 million litas on various forms of humanitarian aid to Ukraine. Lithuanian NGOs are also regularly sending humanitarian shipments to Ukraine.

Troops injured in eastern Ukraine are also undergoing treatment in Lithuania, and Ukrainian war orphans have been invited to study in the Baltic country.

It was also announced during Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaitė's visit to Kiev in late November that Lithuania would provide military assistance to Ukraine as well.
