Lithuanian Prosecutor General Evaldas Pašilis on Tuesday asked the Seimas to strip Kęstutis Pūkas of his immunity from criminal prosecution in a pre-trial investigation over allegations of sexual harassment and violation of the rules for keeping firearms.

Prosecutors launched the investigation last March following complaints from four young women claiming that they had been sexually harassed by the lawmaker.

The prosecutors also say that Pūkas kept a gun in a safe in his office in the Seimas building, thus failing to ensure its safety.

The parliamentarian, who was elected to the Seimas on the Order and Justice list, may face a fine, restriction of liberty or arrest. The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the Vilnius District Prosecutor's Office.

The Seimas has already launched impeachment proceedings against Pūkas over the sexual harassment charges.
