A Free Russia Forum is starting in Vilnius on Friday, the second event of the series this year. It will focus on Russia's main problems, bringing together Russia's prominent opposition activists and human rights defenders.

The two-day forum will continue the discussions opened in March about the Russia's issues and international policies, organizers said.

They said participants of the event would include Russia's politicians, publicists, journalists, civil society activists, cultural figures and international experts.

The forum will discuss the political, economic and social situation in Russia, the results of the Duma elections, Russia's relations with the Western world, as well as the society and dictatorship, ways of resistance against the administration, corruption and cleptocracy. The participants will mull life in Russia without current President Vladimir Putin.

"One of the main obejctives of the forum is shaping an intellectual alternative to the Putin regime and an alternative foundation for building a new European Russia," organizer said.

Among those expected at the event are Russia's opposition leader, former chess world champion Garry Kasparov, political scientist and publicist Andrey Piontkovsky, Russia's former vice-PM Alfred Kokh, journalist Masha Gesen, Nadiya Savchenko, Putin's former adviser Andrey Illarionov, etc.

On Fri day, organizers of the forum will meet with Lithuania's Foreign Minister Linas Linkevičius.

The first Free Russia Forum took place in March.
