The Lithuanian government's performance last year merits a score of 8 out of 10, says a SEB Bank economist.
Gitanas Nausėda says that the government of the social democrat Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevičius deserves praise for its work in the energy field, successfully finishing several key projects and advancing Lithuania's energy independence.
Butkevičius is presenting the government's 2015 report to the Lithuanian Seimas on Thursday.
He said in a statement that 2015 was an exceptional year for Lithuania. The country adopted the euro, launched electricity interconnections with Poland and Sweden and attracted more foreign investment than before.
Meanwhile Seimas opposition leader Andrius Kubilius, a conservative, says the government's report focuses on tiny details and ignores the bigger picture and major problems. The government's grasp of the situation in the country is "inadequate", according to Kubilius.
