Elections to fill three vacant seats in the Lithuanian parliament were held in single-member constituencies on Sunday, and runoff voting will be needed in all of them.

Paule Kuzmickiene, representing the conservative Homeland Union – Lithuanian Christian Democrats, and Gintautas Paluckas, leader of the Social Democratic Party of Lithuania, won the majority of votes in the first round of voting in the Zirmunai single-member constituency.

In Gargzai, HU-LCD member Rasa Petrauksiene will vie against Kristupas Krivickas, representing the Lithuanian Center Party, in the runoff.

And Ruta Janutiene, representing the Lithuanian Farmers and Greens Union and the Lithuanian Center Party, will face social democrat Liudas Jonaitis.

The runoff vote will be held in two weeks.

The total voter turnout was very lows and stood at 19.95 percent.
