Virginija Būdienė, Senior Advisor to the President on Education, Science, Culture and Non-Governmental Organisations, has noted that there are no winners or losers in the deputy ministers' "blacklist" story. She welcomed the resolve of the coalition to cleanse itself of deputy ministers whose reputations were short of impeccable.

"In my opinion, everyone came out a winner, because transparency won. It is great that the Coalition decided to demand for more transparency from high-ranking politicians when selecting candidates to prominent positions. As negotiators say, it is a win-win situation. Of course, we have to wait and see what the conclusions and the new composition of the Government will be, I am talking about deputy ministers. There are no losers, Lithuania only won from this story," Būdienė relayed the president's opinion to the Žinių Radijas radio station.

As reported, the leader of the Lithuanian Social Democratic Party, Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevičius has said that once the Government is approved after returning its mandate, all deputy ministers will be dismissed.

According to media reports, the so-called blacklist, put together by the Special Investigation Service (STT), includes nine names. Several deputy ministers have addressed the STT with the request to provide them with the evidence which could cast doubts over their suitability to continue in their posts.
