President Dalia Grybauskaite met with employers and trade unions to discuss the Seimas adopted new Labour Code on Thursday and criticised some of its provisions.
The President said the new labour code increases social uncertainty and tensions in society and said the code still needs to find a balance between workers and employers' rights.
As Lithuania‘s president, she has the power to veto provisions of the new code.
Lithuanian businesses are completely supportive of the new code while trade unions say opposition to the Government‘s new code needs to continue.
