According to a press release circulated by the President's Office, there is substantial potential for cooperation in research and innovations.

"Lithuania is interested in the possibility of increasing exports of food products to Israel," reads the press release.

In Grybauskaitė's words, bilateral cooperation and contacts between the two nations will be further enhanced by the Israeli embassy to be opened in Vilnius next year.

In the run-up to the Genocide Day and the 70-year anniversary of liquidation of Kaunas and Šiauliai ghettos, the meeting addressed historic memory, education about the Holocaust and education of tolerance. The Middle East peace process was also on the agenda.
