President Dalia Grybauskaitė extended congratulations, both personally and on behalf of the Lithuanian people, to President François Hollande of the French Republic on his 60th birthday, press office of the president said.

"We respect the strong will you showed to overcome the economic downturn and your efforts to create a better future for the citizens of your country and the European Union as a whole. The Lithuanian people value your commitment to build a strong Europe which will be an example of prosperity and well-being for the world," the president wrote in her message.

According to President Grybauskaitė, only by working together will the two countries be able to contribute in a significant way to ensuring peace and stability on the European continent and worldwide.
