Lithuania's President Dalia Grybauskaitė held an unannounced meeting with Gintautas Paluckas, the newly-elected leader of the Social Democratic Party, at the President's Office on Wednesday.

The meeting was confirmed by the president's press service after it had already started.

According to the press release, the working meeting, which lasted for under 30 minutes, addressed relevant issues and "the key decisions for the state and the people."

The president wished him success in the position as the party's leader, his efforts to make the party more open and contribute to enhancement of the party system in the country, reads the communique.
