Lithuania's President Dalia Grybauskaitė on Tuesday appointed Saulius Skvernelis as the country's new prime minister in line with the Constitution and in response to the approval of the newly-elected parliament.

Grybauskaitė authorized Skvernelis to form the new government within 15 days and submit its line-up for approval, the President's Office said.

Under the Constitution, the president appoints the prime minister after the parliament's approval, authorizing him to form the government and approving its line-up.
