Pope Francis has appointed Archbishop Petar Pajic as apostolic nuncio to Lithuania, the secretariat of the Lithuanian Biships' Conference, announced over the weekend.

The new nuncio to Lithuania was appointed as of June 15. Pajic is the sixth apostolic nuncio in the Baltic states.

His predecessor Archbishop Pedro Lopez Quintana was appointed as apostolic nuncio to Austria and left Lithuanian on May 9.

Before his appointment to the Baltic states, Pajic worked in Angola and Sao Tome and Principe. He has served within the Holy See diplomatic service since 1993.
