Since Friday, when police officers were granted the right to fine people for violations of healthcare legislation, the police had already fined more than 500 people for flouting quarantine rules.

In line with existing legislation, natural persons face fines ranging from 500 to 1,500 euros for violations that might facilitate further spread of the coronavirus, whereas business executives may be fined in the amount ranging from 1,500 to 6,000 euros.

First time offenders are fined 250 euros, i.e. half of the minimum statutory amount.
