"Poland has plans of sending a company of soldiers to the Baltic states. Consultations about the technical details are in progress," Vaidotas Linkus, spokesman for Defence Minister Juozas Olekas, told BNS on Tuesday.

The plans were also confirmed by Poland's Defence Minister Antoni Macierewicz at a meeting with Latvia's Defence Minister Raimonds Bergmanis.

In spring, a motorized infantry company will arrive in Estonia for an exercise, although further locations of its deployment are yet to be decided.

Rotational US companies have been stationed in Lithuania and other Baltic countries since 2014.

Furthermore, Great Britain last year announced its plans of stationing a company of troops, or about 100-150 soldiers, in the Baltic countries.

Other countries have been sending military capacities to Lithuania on an irregular basis.

The Baltic states want a multinational battalion stationed in each of their territories.
