Their designation was approved at a meeting of the party's political group on Monday. LPGU has earlier announced plans to propose Aleksandras Stulginskis University's professor Viktoras Pranckietis for Seimas speaker.
The new parliament's leader is expected to have a total of five deputies.
On Monday, LPGU also agreed on candidates for chairmen of Seimas committees. According to the approved list, the Environment Protection Committee should be headed by veterinarian Kęstutis Mažeika, the Budget and Finance Committee should be led by agricultural engineer Viktoras Rinkevičius, the Economic Committee should be led by master of political sciences Virginijus Sinkevičius, the Rural Affairs Committee should be led by former chairman of the Chamber of Agriculture, Andrėjus Stancikas, the National Security and Defense Committee should be led by lawyer Vytautas Bakas, the Health Affairs Committee by lawyer Agnė Sirinskienė, the Education and Science Committee by historian Eugenijus Jovaiša, the State Governance and Local Governments Committee by lawyer Povilas Urbšys and Human Rights Committee by pedagogue Valerijus Simulikas.
A new Culture Committee is planned in the new parliament, with LPGU leader Ramūnas Karbauskis, agronomist by education, proposed as its chairman.
The candidate for chairman of the Audit Committee will be nominated by the opposition. LPGU coalition partners, the Social Democrats, will propose candidates for leaders of the parliamentary committees of Social Affairs and Labour, Legal Affairs and Foreign Affairs.
The Information Society Development Committee should be scrapped.
