In an interview to Žinių Radijas, Karbauskis said that, should his party be invited to join talks on forming the government, he would not be comfortable being part of a coalition that included the two parties that are under criminal investigations.

"I can only say with whom we will definitely not work. We will not work with Order and Justice and the Labour Party, since these parties have pending suspicions or have been sentenced for their actions," according to Karbauskis.

He also expressed reservations about cooperating with the Liberal Movement whose former leader Eligijus Masiulis is suspected of accepting a €100,000 bribe.

"There are doubts about the Liberal Movement - was it the affair of its leader or the entire organization," Karbauskis said.

The Peasant and Greens Union does not have a group in the current Seimas, Lithuania's parliament, but has been performing well in polls and is second only to the ruling Social Democratic Party.

Karbauskis says he expects his party to be part of the government after general elections in October.
