Rolandas Paksas, the leader of the Order and Justice party, is presenting candidates to the post of minister of the interior to the for minister on Friday.

Paksas has so far refused to reveal the names of the candidates, while Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevičius has said the new minister will have to meet high standards.

The current Minister of the Interior Saulius Skvernelis has been asked to step down after he announced he would be running for parliament with another party, the Peasant and Greens Union.

The media have reported that possible candidates include Deputy Minister Julius Morkūnas and MP Kęstutis Bartkevičius.
