"Since the beginning of the pandemic, 729 infection cases have been recorded among healthcare workers, and 293 of them are still ill, and 310 cases were confirmed over the month of September and October," Lingiene told a press conference on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, COVID-19 cases have been recorded at 179 educational establishments in Lithuania since September 1 as 426 people have tested positive. They include 260 children, 143 persons taking part in the education process and 23 persons who are not taking part in the education process.

93 higher school students have also tested positive for the coronavirus since October 1, Lingiene said.

Three people have died from COVID-19 in Lithuania and 118 new coronavirus cases have been recorded over the past 24 hours, bringing the total number to 6,366, the Health Ministry said on Tuesday morning.

The country currently has 3,386 active cases and 2,842 recoveries.

A total of 34,624 people are currently in isolation.
