The Rail Baltica project became suspended for years in Poland, when it emerged that the environmental impact study of the border section between the Polish town Bialystok and the Lithuanian border is outdated, and a new survey has to be conducted; it does not affect the project's development in the Baltic countries, Postimees Online reports.

"All parties to the project work in line with the set timeframe with their activities, including Estonia, and are doing everything for the smooth functioning of the project. Re-applying for the Polish environmental permit does not stop the preparations of the project in the Baltic countries," said the Estonian Rail Baltica project manager Miikko Peris.
