Five persons robbed a 36-year-old man of two mobile phones and 1,000 euros in Vilniaus Street, in the center of the capital, at around 3:45 a.m.

A Norwegian solder serving in NATO's multinational battalion was involved in the incident and detained, Captain Gintautas Ciunis, spokesman for Lithuanian Armed Forces, told BNS.

The soldier, born in 1994, was questioned by police and allowed to return to Rukla, in central Lithuania, where the battalion is based, he said.

The soldier had 1.48 per mille of alcohol in his blood

Police are investigating the circumstances of the incident.
