Lithuania's Foreign Minister Linas Linkevicius has said he sees no grounds for scrapping the country’s list of unwanted persons that includes individuals behind the conviction of Ukrainian war pilot MP Nadiya Savchenko who was held in custody in Russia.

"The list is not only about Savchenko, it only carries her name. Well, the comparison is that the Magnitsky List is not only in connection to the Magnitsky trial," Linkevicius said at a joint news conference on Monday with Savchenko who is on a visit in Vilnius.

Following the death of Russian lawyer Sergey Magnitsky in 2012, the United States published an act, stipulating sanctions for Russian officials linked to his death in the Russian prison.

Linkevicius stated that another few dozen of Ukrainian soldiers were currently in prison in Russia under conditions similar to those of Savchenko.

He said the Savchenko List also includes persons in connection to the conviction of Ukrainian public figures Oleg Sentsov and Olexandr Kolchenko in Russia.

"I truly do not think that the list will be gone until the problem has been solved," said the Lithuanian diplomacy chief.

Lithuania was the first country in the European Union (EU) to publish a Savchenko List last April, while the Ukrainian war pilot was still in detention in Russia.
