15min.lt news portal said Misiūnas would head Maxima Grupė, replacing Robertas Čipkus who had been heading the company since last February.

Misiūnas told BNS he could not provide more information at this point. Earlier on Tuesday, he said he was leaving the post of vice-president of private SBA concern and SBA furniture group after serving a few months in the post.

According to the sources, an official announcement of Misiūnas' new position should be made on Thursday.

Maxima Grupė, which is part of Vilniaus Prekyba (Vilnius Trade) group, operates the following retail chains: Maxima in the Baltic states, Aldik in Poland and T-Market in Bulgaria. The group's consolidated turnover stood at 2.69 billion euros last year.

Nerijus Numavičius, a London-based businessman, is the main shareholder of Vilnius Prekyba.
