Latvia has officially handed over the Presidency of the Council of the European Union (EU) to Luxembourg.

On Tuesday in Berlin, Latvian Ambassador to Germany Elita Kuzma handed over the EU presidency to Luxembourg's Ambassador to Germany Georges Santer. Luxembourg's presidency will officially commence on Friday, 3 July.

Luxembourg will focus on growth and employment, deepening of the social dimension of the EU, migration and security matters, single market and digital dimension, Europe's global competitiveness.
