Lithuania's Social Democratic Party has inched down in June while the opposition Liberal Movement continues to strengthen its position, a survey for DELFI has revealed.

If general elections were held on the upcoming Sunday, 19.7 percent would vote for the Social Democrats, compared to 20.9 percent in May, according to the survey by Spinter Tyrimai pollster.

The Liberal Movement would be supported by 16 percent of voters, significantly more compared to 13.2 percent in May.

The popularity of the opposition Homeland Union – Lithuanian Christian Democrats also dropped slightly to 9.8 percent. 10 percent said they would have voted for the party in May.

The Order and Justice party, member of the incumbent ruling coalition, would get 7.8 percent, compared to 7.3 percent in May, followed by the coalition partner Labour Party with 6.6 percent (6.8 percent in May).

16.2 percent said in June they would not vote in general elections at all, compared to 19.7 percent in May. And the number of undecided voters decreased from 10.3 percent in May to 9.4 percent in June.

Separate data showed that 59.4 percent of people in Lithuania had a negative or rather negative opinion about the government of Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevičius. The share was 54.4 percent in May.

1,003 people, aged 18-75, were polled by Spinter Tyrimai on June 18-26.
