Lithuania's leaders on Monday extended their condolences to Indonesia over a plane crash which cost many lives.

The president wished "fortitude and endurance as well as unity to the victims’ families and loved ones and to all the people of Indonesia in overcoming the consequences of this tragic accident."

Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis also expressed his sincere condolences to the people of Indonesia and relatives of victims over the painful tragedy caused by the plane crash.

"I wish strength and unity to the relatives of the deceased in this difficult hour of bereavement," the prime minister said.

Lion Air's Boeing 737 with 189 people onboard crashed into the sea on Monday soon after taking off from Jakarta Airport.
