In her message of congratulations, the Lithuanian president underscored that, over the last decade, Lithuania and Slovenia had consolidated their partnership not only within the European Union and NATO, but also at the bilateral level.

Grybauskaitė expressed confidence that during the second presidential term of the president of Slovenia, Lithuania and Slovenia would continue to develop a successful people-to-people dialogue and that close cooperation on security and European issues would make the continent stronger and open new avenues for our citizens and all Europeans, the Lithuanian President's Office said.

Data from around 99.9 percent of polling stations show that Pahor secured 52.94 percent of the vote in the run-off voting, while his competitor, former comedian Marjan Sarec, was supported by 47.06 percent of voters amid voter turnout of 40.1 percent.

Slovenia's president enjoys largely symbolic powers. Pahor was first elected in 2012.
