The minister plans to issue such an order taking into account the fact that some returning Lithuanians fail to comply with the requirement to self-isolate for two weeks upon return and might be spreading the virus.

"All people returning to Lithuania – and still several thousands of our citizens are set to return – will have to immediately be put in quarantine at premises designated by municipalities," Veryga told the public radio LRT.

The minister also plans to require that shops limit flows of people and ensure that people follow the requirement of social distancing.

The speed at which the virus will spread in the country will only depend from the public understanding of the need to avoid contacts will depend, the minister underlined.

5,000 reagents used for coronavirus tests were delivered to Lithuania on Sunday night. The country's government says it has already ordered almost 200,000 of them.
