Before the designation, Gražiūnas was the chancellor at the Defence Ministry, the ministry said.

NATO's Budget Committee consists of representatives of 28 countries and a chairman. It discusses NATO's military and civilian budgets, proposes them for approval to NATO's key decision-making body, the North Atlantic Council, oversees budget implementation and discusses other matters in connection to NATO's general funding.

In 2016, NATO's military budget totals nearly €1.164 billion, while the civilian budget is €222.6 million.

The post of chancellor at Lithuania's Defence Ministry is held by Daiva Beliackienė since June.
