The Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed it has contacted the Lithuanian citizen who has been arrested in Moscow on spying charges, Aristidas Tamošaitis. According to the ministry, the Lithuanian national is feeling well and does not want his Russian state-appointed lawyer replaced.

A Lithuanian consular official on Friday visited Tamošaitis who is in custody at the Lefortov detention centre, the director of the ministry's Information and Public Relations Department, Giedrius Puodžiūnas, confirmed to BNS.

"We can also confirm his identity. He is indeed a citizen of Lithuania, Aristidas Tamošaitis. In his words, the conditions at the detention centre are satisfactory, he had no complaints in connection to his health condition. Tamošaitis has a lawyer appointed by the Russian Federation and he does not want him replaced," said the diplomat.
