The Order and Justice party might leave the ruling coalition amid an ongoing corruption scandal at the Ministry of the Interior, and one could not discount the possibility that Lithuania might have a minority government, says Gediminas Kirkilas, vice-chairman of the Social Democratic Party of Lithuania, the largest party in the ruling block.

"Of course, there's fear. (…) We cannot discount that possibility that if the Order and Justice left, we would have a minority government, perhaps supported by some opposition parties. Anything might happen in such cases as politicians are often affected by emotions," he said.

According to Kirkilas, in case of a minority government, a lot of time would be devoted to negotiations with opposition parties. Kirkilas headed a minority government in 2006-2008.

Kirkilas also believes Interior Minister Dailis Alfonsas Barakauskas, representing the Order and Justice party, should step down amid the ongoing scandal.
