The Lithuanian parliament will hold three plenary sittings a week in May and June instead of the usual two in an effort to adopt all the legislation in the s-called new social model package by the end of the spring session.

The Seimas board made the decision on Wednesday.

"We will work on six Fridays in a row - three in May and three in June," Deputy Seimas Speaker Algirdas Sysas told BNS.

The Seimas usually holds plenary sittings on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

The parliament has so far discussed 143 out of 256 articles of the social model package aimed at liberalizing labour relations and revamping the country's social insurance system, Sodra.
