The Lithuanian president will also give a speech during the gala dinner.

"It a great honor for me to give a speech and congratulate Mr. President as we have great relations with France which is our strategic partner within the European Union and NATO, we see French troops in here. It's a great commitment for me," Grybauskaitė told the public radio LRT ahead of the visit.

"We have a new leader who's been in his position a year. He has a vision and wants to see a strong Europe, (…) understands our region's needs and challenges. I consider it a great honor," the Lithuanian leader said.

Grybauskaitė was awarded the International Charlemagne Prize in 2013 for her contribution to efforts to ensure Europe's unity and economic stability, as well as for her strong leadership in dealing with the financial crisis.

The International Charlemagne Prize has been awarded annually since 1950 by the German city of Aachen to people for who contributed to the unity of Europe and strengthening friendships and connections among nations. This prize became a symbol of solidarity and mutual understanding in post-war Europe.
