Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaitė has extended condolences to President Joko Widodo of the Republic of Indonesia over the church bombings in Surabaya, which killed many Indonesian citizens and left dozens more injured.

"Such tragic and brutal attacks are a terrible shock to Indonesia and to all believers," the president wrote in her message of condolences, published by her press office.

She wished fortitude to the victim's families and loved ones, speedy recovery to the injured as well as unity and hope to the people of Indonesia.

Explosions near three churches in Indonesia's second-largest city of Surabaya killed at least nine and injured dozens of people on Sunday.
