Under the Law on Political Parties, all political parties must submit their member lists to the Ministry of Justice every year, by 1 October and 1 March.

The current legislation also requires that every party must have at least 1,000 members in order to be recognized a such. As of 14 December 2015, however, the membership minimum goes up to 2,000.

If the number of members falls below the allowed minimum, the party may be dissolved.

Currently, there are 41 registered political parties in Lithuania, four of them are in the process of dissolution.
