The Lithuanian prime minister's team has been expanded by creating the position of adviser on equality issues. Auksė Kontrimienė has been appointed to the new position.

The Social Democratic Party of Lithuania said in a statement on Tuesday that the new position was created in response to calls from non-governmental organizations and a proposal of the Seimas Women's Parliamentary Group.

Kontrimienė was previously the prime minister's adviser on relations with the Seimas.
