A European bushido champion, an Olympic record holder, a master chess player, and even the strongest man in the world - these are some of the people who have joined political parties and will try to win voters' hearts in parliamentary elections.

The Order and Justice party has several celebrities in its candidate list, including the well-known climatologist Audronė Galvonaitė.

The Liberal Movement's list boasts three sports champions in its top five. Second on the list is discus thrower Virgilijus Alekna, Olympic champion in 2000 and 2004, two-time world champion, European title holder. In the fourth position of the liberal list is women's chess champion, grandmaster Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen. And fifth is the strongest man in the world Žydrūnas Savickas, a winner of numerous strong man competitions, a holder of an impressive collection of records.

Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevičius, a social democrat, will be challenged in the Vilkaviškis single seat constituency by bushido master, Lithuanian champion and holder of several European and world titles Kęstutis Smirnovas, who has joined the Lithuanian Peasant and Greens Union.
